We’re Beatriz and Lynn, your hosts

Beatriz

Hi! I’m Beatriz (also go by Bea), the human behind the Instagram profile and one of the co-hosts for our retreats!

A little about me:
🏡 I grew up in Lisbon and moved to London when I was 18. I’ve lived in lots of different places in the last 10 years but I am currently based in Amsterdam. I feel most at home when in close proximity to the Atlantic or otherwise on top of a mountain.

🌱 I picked up writing again 4 years ago but it took me a long time to gain the confidence that I could actually do it. It’s been A process. My biggest discovery is that your imagination is like a muscle you need to train everyday (no, really, otherwise it goes all soft and numb). Having said that I still feel like I’m at the beginning of my creative journey and have no idea what I’m doing most of the time.

📚I am a big reader (obviously). Growing up my perfect day involved skipping school to stay home to read. These days I love reading contemporary fiction by women. I love Ann Patchett, Elizabeth Strout, Sally Rooney, Louise Nealon.

Hi! I’m Lynn, the other co-host. If you message or e-mail us, I’m probably the one you’ll be talking to.

Here’s a little about me:
🏡 I was born and raised in the Amersfoort area. When I was 15 I moved abroad and I have lived in a lot of different places since. In 2018 I moved back to Amersfoort, where I currently live with my partner.

📚My favorite place to be is in the mountains, either climbing or hanging out by our camper van with a good book. Lately I’ve been reading a lot of dystopian fiction and short story collections. My favorites are N.K. Jemisin, Ted Chiang, Alice Walker and Hanya Yanagihara (The People in the Trees, anyone?)

🌱 I wrote a lot while I was in high school, but kind of forgot about it as I got older. I picked it back up about three years ago and the community I’ve found through writing has been the most wonderful thing!
